The Postpartum season is one of most challenging timeframes to navigate, especially as a mom in the military, or as someone who really takes pride in their fitness & has high expectations of yourself, like I do.
- Maybe you can't help but feel disheartened because you’re starting from square one all over again. It can be easy to feel like so much fitness has been lost even if you had a super fit pregnancy or exercised throughout.
- If you're a military mom you're likely feeling some pressure to lose weight fast & meet certain fitness test goals or standards on set timelines, and you want to prove you can come back strong & perform really well, even after pregnancy.
- Are you eager to return to your normal fitness, but also don't want to make anything worse for your core or pelvic floor?
- Maybe you're looking for reassurance that you WILL be able to get back to all that you want to do again & where you want to be, even if you feel like your body is foreign to you right now?
Let's be honest. We all want a faster postpartum recovery. We all want that quick bounce-back. We’re all usually dying to get back into our normal workout routine even before we get to the 6 week doctor's clearance.
We wanna get back to lifting heavy, running again, body composition standards and performing on the military fitness test, workouts in our favorite gym community, PT with our team, or whatever brings us life. To feel strong, & more like ourselves again. To get our bodies back. Lose all our baby weight. Fit in & feel beautiful & confident in our clothes and skin again. To prove that pregnancy doesn’t mean we’ve lost our fitness.
Maybe you too have a love/hate relationship with the idea of "bouncing back". You may not like the pressure & expectations, but you do want to get back quickly! You want those results.

It can be so hard to give yourself grace, and not beat yourself up about how far you are from where you want to be.
And when you're already juggling life with a newborn, finding your rhythm as a family again, super sleep deprived, returning to work, trying to manage breastfeeding / pumping if you choose to, and so much on your plate, let alone figuring out how to deal with any complications or aspects of motherhood you didn't expect, or healing physically and mentally/emotionally from a birth that didn't go as you planned, you don't have time or energy to waste trying to figure out how the heck to sort through the confusing, conflicting, and outdated guidance out there to make the quickest progress toward your goals.
With the messaging that's so common & so many dangerous minefields of postpartum fitness advice that can lead you astray, to include some pretty terrible information that's unfortunately prevalent across our military community still, it's hard to know who or what to trust.
