Amidst it all, you just want to do God’s will. I see you sister. I’m on this journey with you. In this Podcast, you’ll find heart to heart conversations about motherhood and military life, work-life balance and leadership, all grounded in Biblical truths, my education & experience as a professionally-trained Catholic Mindset Coach, certified Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism Coach, and lessons I’ve learned the hard way in the last 5 years of high level advocacy work fighting for mothers, families, and life in the military. I believe strongly that no one should have to choose between their family and their call to serve. That motherhood should never be the death of our dreams. That motherhood is not a limiting factor in what a woman can achieve, but lack of support can be. I started Armed to the Heart to be who I needed when I was in the trenches, overwhelmed by motherhood in the military, struggling in my mental health & postpartum recovery, drowning in my home, carrying so much guilt for the time I had to spend away from my baby, feeling so much pressure to prove myself in a combat arms unit and feeling like a failure in all of it. My family was getting the leftovers of me. I felt stifled in my faith. Trapped in the military. It felt impossible to actually live out my priorities. I felt so far from the superwoman others saw in me. As a dual military, active duty Army officer raising 2 sweet (and wild!) boys in the Catholic faith, a fierce advocate for my sisters in arms going through pregnancy & postpartum, a recovering perfectionist and people pleaser, & big dreamer with a heart to make a difference, I know the struggle that comes with wearing so many hats & trying to fulfill God’s call for us. Through so many answered prayers, the Lord has allowed me to be part of the change I want to see. To bridge the gaps I’ve experienced and seen in thousands of women’s experience in the military, through policy advocacy work, mentorship & coaching. To fight for motherhood, for life, and for freedom to live out our faith in the military. He taught me that our minds are the true spiritual battlegrounds, and that by learning to manage our mind, emotions, & time, we don’t have to be a victim to our circumstances. He showed me that by discerning His will in every season, it is possible to keep my faith and family first while making a meaningful impact. Friend, today I'm gonna share with you 9 lessons learned about building physical, mental, & spiritual strength as a military mama. This came from the fitness tests and graded physical events I recently went through in our training course, to include both the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) as well as a 14 mile Ruck.
I felt called to share this, especially to help those who are also on their postpartum journey like I am.
As military women navigating pregnancy & postpartum, the emphasis on physical fitness in our profession can be a source of pride & empowerment, but also a source of stress & anxiety for us.
Because the truth is, we have to put our bodies through a lot pretty quickly after having a baby to meet the timelines, return to the standards, & get back to everything we need to do. And many of us have high expectations of ourselves to perform well & lead by example.

Whether you're in the thick of it or preparing for it...Do you feel like postpartum is just about trying to survive?
What if there's another way?
Today I'm sharing the Top 10 Pitfalls I see postpartum women falling into, that I experienced too.
Whether this is your first baby or you want a better postpartum experience this time, I see you.
I don't want other mamas to have to go through so much of what I've since discovered (through a lot of HARD lessons) is avoidable pain.
What's most heartbreaking is that each of these amplify the risk of postpartum depression & anxiety, heighten mom guilt, shame, & feelings of inadequacy, impact bonding with baby, the breastfeeding journey, make navigating our return to work & work-life balance more complicated, and bring a lot of unnecessary self-doubt & guilt into motherhood. But no one really prepares us for these aspects.
Our postpartum recovery, adjusting to life with a newborn, and mom life and the juggling act of all the things on our plates is tough enough...especially in today's world & society that doesn't structurally support mothers, or in the military where we're still fighting a lot of uphill battles. We don't need it to be even harder!
I personally went through every single one of these. They almost BROKE me. And for too long, we've been told debilitating conditions physically, mentally & emotionally following pregnancy are just things we have to put up with. So you are not alone, and THAT is why I do what I do.
Because you can write a different story my friend! You are made for more. You don't have to accept this. God has greater plans for you to not just SURVIVE, but THRIVE through postpartum. It IS possible.
So take a deep breath mama. You were never meant to do this alone.
You deserve to be whole.
Your family deserves a mama who is whole.

In the busyness of life & motherhood do you feel like there’s a bit more distance between you & your husband than you’d like?

Today we’re uncovering the 10 greatest roadblocks that hinder us from both discovering and living out our calling.
In the last podcast episode, we journeyed through 6 steps for how to identify what God is calling you to, so you can discover your unique God-given purpose. The mission He has prepared uniquely for YOU!
But even when we receive & gain clarity on our call, let's be honest...it’s NOT easy actually living it out. We can feel stuck, discouraged, and experience a lot of fear, doubts, insecurities, guilt, or weariness.

It can be easy to feel discouraged, guilty, or even defeated in the juggling act of trying to figure out how to make it work, even when we really want to. It can be so hard to find the time to take care of ourselves or even take a shower, because our children's needs are so urgent. Between being so sleep deprived, fussy days where baby won't let us set them down, constant nursing, toddlers hanging on us, or the million interruptions, it can feel impossible to get a good workout in.
But it is possible and I want to encourage you in some practical ways to make it easier, in spite of these realities of our busy, sometimes overwhelming, exhausting, & chaotic mom life!
