You’re performing well but your load is heavy, you’re weighed down by guilt, and exhausted from pushing through but never having a moment to rest. It’s hard to know what to say yes to, and scary considering a different course than the traditional path of success everyone is pushing you toward, or what you’ve always known. Maybe you’ve recently made the transition or are thinking about leaving the military. You don’t want your work to come at the expense of your family; they come first. Amidst it all, you just want to do God’s will. I see you sister. I’m on this journey with you. In this Podcast, you’ll find heart to heart conversations about motherhood and military life, work-life balance and leadership, all grounded in Biblical truths, my education & experience as a professionally-trained Catholic Mindset Coach, certified Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism Coach, and lessons I’ve learned the hard way in the last 5 years of high level advocacy work fighting for mothers, families, and life in the military. I believe strongly that no one should have to choose between their family and their call to serve. That motherhood should never be the death of our dreams. That motherhood is not a limiting factor in what a woman can achieve, but lack of support can be. I started Armed to the Heart to be who I needed when I was in the trenches, overwhelmed by motherhood in the military, struggling in my mental health & postpartum recovery, drowning in my home, carrying so much guilt for the time I had to spend away from my baby, feeling so much pressure to prove myself in a combat arms unit and feeling like a failure in all of it. My family was getting the leftovers of me. I felt stifled in my faith. Trapped in the military. It felt impossible to actually live out my priorities. I felt so far from the superwoman others saw in me. As a dual military, active duty Army officer raising 2 sweet (and wild!) boys in the Catholic faith, a fierce advocate for my sisters in arms going through pregnancy & postpartum, a recovering perfectionist and people pleaser, & big dreamer with a heart to make a difference, I know the struggle that comes with wearing so many hats & trying to fulfill God’s call for us. Through so many answered prayers, the Lord has allowed me to be part of the change I want to see. To bridge the gaps I’ve experienced and seen in thousands of women’s experience in the military, through policy advocacy work, mentorship & coaching. To fight for motherhood, for life, and for freedom to live out our faith in the military. He taught me that our minds are the true spiritual battlegrounds, and that by learning to manage our mind, emotions, & time, we don’t have to be a victim to our circumstances. He showed me that by discerning His will in every season, it is possible to keep my faith and family first while making a meaningful impact. Today I'm gonna share 10 tips to help you figure out how to slow down and rest. YES, even (and especially!) when you're way overbusy, overworked or overcommitted, and have a million things on your plate and calendar.
When there's never have enough time for all the things that need to get done.
I know above all this Christmas season, you desire to be fully present and enjoy the real peace and joy this season can bring. But that can feel almost IMPOSSIBLE and an elusive dream with all the directions December can pull us in, the stress & overwhelm that can come with all the events we have going on, the pressure to give our family the most magical, perfect Christmas experience, and the way our to-do-list tends to get even MORE overloaded (as if it wasn't already WAY too long to begin with as busy mamas!!).
So if you don't want to feel like you're running on survival or reaction mode, or just trying to keep up this holiday season and want to actually slow down to just BE with the Lord and the ones you love...
If you feel like you can never find time to rest and FULLY enjoy those precious moments that feel so fleeting, if you're ready to let go of the hustle to experience all He promises us, but aren't quite sure how to, given how full your load already is, pop those headphones in, grab your journal and your favorite coffee, tea, or holiday drink, and settle in for this heart to heart my friend.

The Postpartum season is one of most challenging timeframes to navigate, especially as a mom in the military, or as someone who really takes pride in their fitness & has high expectations of yourself, like I do.
Maybe you can't help but feel disheartened because you’re starting from square one all over again. It can be easy to feel like so much fitness has been lost even if you had a super fit pregnancy or exercised throughout.
If you're a military mom you're likely feeling some pressure to lose weight fast & meet certain fitness test goals or standards on set timelines, and you want to prove you can come back strong & perform really well, even after pregnancy.
Are you eager to return to your normal fitness, but also don't want to make anything worse for your core or pelvic floor?
Maybe you're looking for reassurance that you WILL be able to get back to all that you want to do again & where you want to be, even if you feel like your body is foreign to you right now?
Let's be honest. We all want a faster postpartum recovery. We all want that quick bounce-back. We’re all usually dying to get back into our normal workout routine even before we get to the 6 week doctor's clearance.
We wanna get back to lifting heavy, running again, body composition standards and performing on the military fitness test, workouts in our favorite gym community, PT with our team, or whatever brings us life. To feel strong, & more like ourselves again. To get our bodies back. Lose all our baby weight. Fit in & feel beautiful & confident in our clothes and skin again. To prove that pregnancy doesn’t mean we’ve lost our fitness.
Maybe you too have a love/hate relationship with the idea of "bouncing back". You may not like the pressure & expectations, but you do want to get back quickly! You want those results.I see you friend. I get it and I get you.
It can be so hard to give yourself grace, and not beat yourself up about how far you are from where you want to be.
And when you're already juggling life with a newborn, finding your rhythm as a family again, super sleep deprived, returning to work, trying to manage breastfeeding / pumping if you choose to, and so much on your plate, let alone figuring out how to deal with any complications or aspects of motherhood you didn't expect, or healing physically and mentally/emotionally from a birth that didn't go as you planned, you don't have time or energy to waste trying to figure out how the heck to sort through the confusing, conflicting, and outdated guidance out there to make the quickest progress toward your goals.
With the messaging that's so common & so many dangerous minefields of postpartum fitness advice that can lead you astray, to include some pretty terrible information that's unfortunately prevalent across our military community still, it's hard to know who or what to trust.

We all know how tough it can be to find the time, energy & motivation to exercise with a baby (or multiple little ones) at home, during times when life just gets crazy, sickness hits the whole family or life just feels like it’s getting in the way, and during the changing routines or travels of the holiday season.
So tune in today for 20 fun, super simple, low or zero-equipment ways to integrate fitness into your busy life as a mama.
Whether you’re short on time, gearing up for traveling over the holidays without access to your usual gym / equipment, out of your routine because of sick kids, in the thick of pregnancy or postpartum, a big military move or other transitions, or if you know your normal routine won’t work as well for you in this season, these practical tips will help you minimize barriers to fitting workouts into your / your family’s life.
You do NOT have to spend hours at the gym, or stress or obsess about exercise during the holidays to still maintain your fitness and make incredible progress toward your goals.
These are my favorite ways to find balance, keep things exciting & engaging, and just practically make it work and keep fitness a consistent, positive part of my daily & weekly rhythm!
I want you to be able to give yourself grace and also have a buffet of creative, fun ways you can make your workouts work for you when life is crazy, so you can keep fitness a priority and enjoy it, in ANY season of life.
It doesn't have to be all or nothing. Through motherhood especially, the more you can embrace having fun with your fitness, getting creative with it, and letting it be messy and imperfect, the better it'll be and the more you'll actually be able to sustainably stick with your goals (especially through pregnancy & postpartum!)

But we don’t talk enough about its dangers and pitfalls, yet many of us are caught up in its influences without full awareness of how much it’s causing us to sacrifice what matters most.
 
So let’s explore how it’s negatively impacting us, and why we get stuck in cycles of addiction and attachment to our phones and social media.
